Auditions for Seussical will take place December 6 and 7. Audition sign ups will occur in November.
Our families will be required to fill out the google form which has more information and inclusion specific questions in addition to the specific sign up slot they will be coming into the audition. The form will be available in early November to sign up here.
The change to the registration process is so that all performers that may require inclusion services have a chance to request them ahead of participating in the audition.
All YAE Team Up participants that request inclusion services will be able to audition for the full run of three weekends and 12 shows or can do a limited amount of performances if necessary (such as all Friday evenings). This selection must be made before auditions in order for casting to be doubled if necessary. Our goal is to have everyone participate in all of the performances if they are able. We do understand that for some people with disabilities, that is too heavy a load and are able to make this accommodation if requested.
Rehearsal will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-8pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm.
YAE TeamUp is a collaborative program with the Young Artists Ensemble (YAE) and Conejo Recreation and Park District’s Therapeutic Recreation Unit where young actors of all abilities can competitively audition, rehearse, and perform a full-length musical or play. A truly unique program that encourages the arts for all, encourages friendships, understanding, and life skills between the youth participants of YAE and the Therapeutic Recreation Department. This program is open for youth ages 10-18.
There are also workshops to help participants get to know each other, learn about the performances, and audition process. This year we have two workshops. The first workshop concluded on September 13. The second workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 2 from 6-8 pm and will be available for registration during the fall/winter registration period.
Competitive auditions will be held on the weekend of December 6 and 7.
For our adults with disabilities, the Therapeutic Recreation Department is relaunching theatre classes and workshops. They are continuing to rebuild a new program for those over 18. We appreciate everyone's patience as we transition from CTFE (Conejo Theatre for Everyone) into these two new programs. Please reach out to Trunit@crpd.org for future workshops and classes.
YAE Team up creates a set that is ADA accessible according to the selected performers physical capabilities. We welcome performers of all physical abilities to participate and audition. If you have specific physical mobility concerns or need to use any aides, please list them on the audition form so that we can make sure to address those needs when building the set and blocking the show.
Live Theatre often makes use of dramatic Lighting (Sudden Blackouts, Flashing or Moving lights), Sound (Amplified Music, Loud Noises or Sound EFX) and Atmospheric effects (Smoke and Haze). If there are visual, respiratory, or auditory issues that might cause discomfort, please let us know. We are usually able to accommodate such needs provided we have enough advance notice.
Costumes, wigs, and makeup are traditionally worn by most performers. If you know of any specifics such as a need for velcro, snaps, no buttons, easy zipper tabs, or cannot for any reason wea r a wig or makeup please list this info on the registration form so that we can provide it to our production team.
Characters that are double cast means that the two performers work together during rehearsals for blocking, staging, and potentially running lines or rehearsing music and dance numbers as mirrored teammates. They are featured during different performances (if required) and the second performer may be assisted by the other performer if necessary during the performance. This is beneficial to our YAE Team Up members who may need some assistance with lines, choreography, or entrances/exits. Some team up members do not require any assistance during a performance. Other reasons individuals may be double cast is if one performer cannot participate in all of the shows.
